So, it's been awhile. This is going to be a loooonnnnnng post, so I'll get right to it.
Last January, I started having weird symptoms and my neuropathy was worse, so a trip to the Emergency Department was in order.
Thought I might have been having a stroke and once you say that, they start a stroke protocol, which involved having a CT scan (stroke with perfusion) of the blood vessels in the head.
Turns out I have a 10mm occlusion in my left MCA, which is probably the reason for my dizziness and parethesia in my body. It's not neuropathy, technically, because my nerves are fine. (I had a nerve conduction study and a test for small fiber neuropathy)
This led to my first ride in an ambulance, a stay in the ICU, then another 2 days in the hospital. While I was there I had an MRI of my head, neck and spine under anesthesia (long story, won't bore you).
Thank God we had good insurance!
Let's back up a bit...
My paresthesia and dizziness started to get worse last September. The month started out with a pretty bad ice pick headache on the left side of my head above my ear, on the 3rd. The stabbing sensation came every 5 seconds to 30 seconds. I came down with Covid (for the first time) on the 9th, then on the 4th trip to the Emergency Department (in 4 days) revealed I had a kidney infection.
Oy.
A round of antibiotics cleared the kidney infection up and the ice pick headache resolved..
The fatigue however did not. Covid was long gone and this wasn't covid. Finally got tested for Epstein Barr at the end of October and sure enough, covid had reactivated my EBV.
I tested for lyme at the same time using Vibrant Wellness extensive Tickborne panel.
Started on Lauricidin, Lysine and Cat's Claw. Took those until February.
After September, I was still dizzier than I had been and my paresthesia was still bad.
Which led me to do some research on Functional Neurology and EBOO (I'll explain later) and Physical Therapy.
My husband was retiring February 28th and I really couldn't start anything until then, but I made my plan.
I found a place near me, in Charlotte, called Better Brain and Body and scheduled a diagnostic exam.
- Eyes open & Eyes Closed Brain Map Reports
- CAPS- Balance assessment
- RLFE- Positional balance assessment
- RightEye- Identifies and tracks dynamic eye movement patterns
- Interactive Metronome (IM)- Rhythm and timing assessment
- Videonystagmography (VNG)- Eye movement assessment
- Qest4 Bio-Energetic Scan
The results led to a treatment plan that consists of doing neurofeedback, sitting on a Kloud PEMF mat with oxygen, Alpha Stim, Rebuilder, neuromuscular rehabilitation, photobiomodulation with Vielight and Gyrostim .You can read about them HERE. I go 3 days a week for 5 weeks and all the treatment last for about 2 hours.
Here's me on the Gyrostim the first day. The goal is to hit the targets, going back and forth between them. This is level 5. Level 5 made my head hurt and made me feel dizzy. The Gyrostim goes up to level 30. I can't imagine going that fast. Mr. DIY has to help me get into that thing. The last step he has to give me a boost. As of today, I'm at level 7 and I just began week 3.
After the first session I was exhausted and took a 2+ hour nap. I was also able to sleep that night.

But, I digress.
Once my five weeks of treatment at Better Brain & Body are finished, I'll be going to VYVE Wellness for EBO2 and HBOT (hyperbaric oxygen therapy). EBO2 is like dialysis (filters the blood) and ozone is added and the blood is filtered through UV light.
EBO2 is good for clearing viruses, is good for stroke and good for overall wellness. HBOT, is as well.
I did 5 sessions of IV ozone and 5 sessions of NAD IV at iCryo last year and felt great. I've been wanting to do the ozone with the filter (EBOO/EBO2) since last year.
One good thing to report: I had been getting up 4-5 times a night, most nights and sometimes up to 9 or 10 times a night if I ate some thiols. After going to get ozone IV's I started getting up once or twice a night on a good night, but still getting up 3 or 4 times a night sometimes. Now, I'm waking up once most nights and twice sometimes. 2 or 3 times a month, I'm waking up at 4 or 5.
I am determined to get well and get my life back. If you are a person who prays, I would really covet your prayers. Please pray that the dizziness would resolve, my leg muscles would return to normal. (strengthen and not be so stiff). Also, pray for my vestibular system to get back to normal.
In addition to all of the above, I'll be doing some extensive labs with Dr. Lattanza from Dr. Jack Wolfson's office. He's the Natural Cardiologist and has a great website with lots of free information.
Thanks for stopping by,
Pam
